A stay in Cuba is a good chance to see the beaches. And to enjoy the tropical climate. One or two days on the sand is the perfect rest after heavy sightseeing. Photos and a short report follow.
Beach and palm trees in Trinidad
The beaches are only 7 km from Trinidad. That distance looked perfect for a bike. It also let us see the area around Trinidad. Rental bikes come in various states, so check what you are getting. One bike for the whole day costs about 10 CUC. It depends on the negotiation.

Hot weather and the state of the bikes turned a short distance into a longer trip. We rode past the “La Guna La Chorrera” lake and finally got there. We were given special locks so we could fasten the bikes at the parking spot. I do not know if that was safe. The bikes were waiting for us after a few hours on the beach.

No crowds, the way it goes on Polish beaches. Cubans walked around selling drinks of all kinds, including rum served straight from a fresh coconut.

Beach, palm trees, sunbathing and a swim in the Caribbean Sea. For anyone who likes resting this way, I recommend it! In the evening the sunset came close. We decided to head back to the center of Trinidad.
Time to head back. We got on the bikes and rode off, and the views along the way were superb. One of them gave me a photo that looks like a postcard.

A beautiful sunset was waiting on the way. We watched it together with a new problem. A bike broke down, and cars came by rarely on that road. We tried to flag down the ones that passed every few minutes. It worked in the end! Someone stopped and offered help. For free. Cubans do know how to help when help is needed.

Beaches in Havana
The next almost empty beach we found in Havana. “Playas Del Este”, next to Santa María del Mar, was a bullseye. A sensible 20 kilometers from the center of Havana, and a bus goes there.
A stand with 1 CUC drinks was waiting right off the bus. There was also a decent place by the beach, “Ranchon Don Pepe”. Standard tourist prices. The food was good enough. The beach itself was perfect. A very calm sea, and rest.

The area was pleasant, with plenty of palm trees, which I love to photograph. They mean holidays to me above all.
Summary
This is the last part of the Cuba report. One more sunset photo to close it.

Cuba is an excellent destination. It combines sightseeing with meeting a completely foreign, exotic culture. Add the deep history and the rest on beaches with palm trees. I honestly recommend it!
