Wrocław – a city you hear a great deal of good about. Positive opinions from every direction, because there is plenty to see, plenty to look at, and in the end a beautiful city with nights full of life. The verdict is clearly positive, so how did it go in my case? Come along for a taste of a short, very relaxed stay. Photos are waiting.
My first and only time in Wrocław I remember as if through fog. I was very young, apparently Wrocław was only just being built up, and the one thing I can reach back to is the Panorama Racławicka.
Not much. Really not much. Luckily I remember rather more from the last stay, an extremely relaxed one, three days back. ;)
Getting to Wrocław was down to PolskiBus. The tickets were bought two months earlier for laughable money. Once again I can recommend this way of getting around, because it really does the job. :)
The PKP railway station made a surprising impression right at the start. It looks like a colorful castle taken out of a fairy tale.
Then a quick look at the stadium, which from the outside did not make much of an impression. The sheet stretched along its whole length could not win me over. The inside, on the other hand, looked superb.
The market square was next, where we climbed the Garrison tower. A fee about the price of a beer, a climb up narrow winding stairs, and beautiful views as the reward. A pity there were bars all around.
On the square I caught one of the dwarf statues, the only one that earned a place here. He was posted by the money, and the WBK bank got itself a great piece of advertising.
And finally we got to a place whose mood really won us over. Pergola, it is called.
The fountain there makes a huge impression. The best would be to chill at night, where the shows apparently flatten you into the ground. Something to catch up on next time.
The next day we got to paddle kayaks. Despite good weather and a Sunday afternoon, Zatoka Gondoli was relatively quiet. No queues.
Right next to the Zatoka there was a place that is still a puzzle to me. Maybe somebody knows something about it? :D
Later came a chill on the Wyspy Słodowe islands. A very good place for beers and for taking it easy.
There we found a dream place to live, assuming you can live there at all.
On the islands you could lose track of yourself.
But it was time to move on. The bridge with padlocks looked like a good lead.
As you can see, there were spots where Wrocław was still under construction. Luckily such views did not come up often. And by the way, I have no idea why the lamppost is doubling as a walking stick.
Suddenly, after a glance at the watch, you realize it is time to go home.
Well, it was a great time. Wrocław really can make you fall for it. Suddenly the #Wroclove hashtag made sense to me.
In two days we managed to see only the seed of everything Wrocław has waiting for real tourists. I am curious which places you would recommend. Something tells me it is a city to come back to. ;)
